You might have guessed it – it’s Octoberfest time again. And to put one thing straight: I am not paid by the Bavarian Tourism Association to be an ambassador for Bavarian culture. I am simply a huge fan of Bavarian costumes. So every year on the first sunday of Munich’s Octoberfest from around 9 a.m. on you will find me mingling with the different traditional costume societies that are gathering for the big Costume and Riflemen’s Procession. Hanging about with the hunters and the falconers (learning a thing or two about sleuthhound or the speed of falcons) and seeing all those incredible costumes is a real pleasure to me. By 10 a.m., when the procession starts, I am usually so impressed and overwhelmed by tradition that I am ready to move to the countryside and join the ‘real club’ (that feeling lasts for about two weeks).
So I guess I will see you next year at the parade!

Julia wears a Dirndl from ebay, a cardigan by Kookai, a vintage velvet scarf, an old hat from her father in law, shoes and cherry brooch from a fleamarket, a bracelet from her mother and a ‘believe love hope’ necklace.
(Thank you, dear patient Frank, for shooting me in front of every single horse and carriage of the procession)
