When you hear the term ‘art gallery lady’ you probably think about a woman in her 60s with huge asymmetric jewellery, long asymmetric garments (or anything by Yamamoto) and eccentric (sometimes asymmetric) eyewear. At least I do. But maybe I am stuck in old klischees from the 90s. When it had to be some kind of conceptual way of dressing to prove you were part of the art-world, intellectually far ahead of the ‘plebs’ and certainly above the average perception of beauty and style. I get a feeling that these days are over, when I visit Brigitta at the art gallery she works for. She doesn’t need to prove a thing. Impeccably dressed, mostly in black and white, she still follows her own concept of beauty, but in a very unexcited and self-evident way. No need to be extra-unconventional to prove that her home is the art-world. No asymmetrics needed. Just the right attitude and good style shows every inch the artist she is and the aesthetics she stands for. The aera of ‘cool art gallery lady’ has begun, finally.
