You cannot get around them this fall: Culottes. Even if you tried to ignore them throughout the last few seasons you have to face reality now. Culottes have landed on our high street. And I like it – obviously. I like the masculinity within this feminine style. Of course you can wear culottes all 70s sexy, high waisted with a ruffeled blouse. Nothing wrong with that. But I prefer the Goucho way: heavy boots, heavy belts, heavy accessories, a scarf and a hat (leather gloves for outdoors). Workwear for women, for cowgirls. To me it feels like ‘Georgia O’Keefe meets Yves Saint Laurent in the 70s’. Sexy, sophisticated and self-confident. What else can you ask for in fashion?

Julia wears culottes by Cos, vintage sweater, hat and brass bracelet from a fleamarket, leather boots and scarf from Portobello market, studded bracelet and belt from Hallhuber.
