I just came back from Paris. I went to a big fabric show there. That’s not as fancy as going to Fashion Week – no models or fashion editors or front row celebrities – but it’s crowded with fashion designers and people from the industry. Those are the people that decide what we will see in the shops next year. So they should know what’s hot and what’s not. And they all wore sneakers. For all of you who might think: ‘Of course they wear comfortable shoes, they have to run around at the fairground all day!’ Please, don’t be naive. The word ‘comfortable’ is not part of the fashion vocabulary. If it’s fancy it doesn’t matter if it kills your feet.
So, my fellow fashion lovers, let’s all enjoy the moment, it will vanish soon enough. For that brief period of time let’s all wear sneakers with everything we want and enjoy life (and non-aching feet).
If you want to be on top of the game though (like Dodo) – you HAVE to get a pair of Adidas ‘Stan Smith’. They are the ‘flavour of the season’ sneakers. Every single hip shop assistant in every single hip parisian fashion store wears them. With a green back. I am not joking. Go to Paris, see for yourself.
