When you think about ‘matching outfits’ the first thing that pops up in your mind is probably an image of a couple in front of their mobile home wearing matching track suits. But that’s not what I am talking about. What I want to discuss today is whether it’s OK to coordinate your outfits or if that’s a bit over the top and too chichi? To be honest – when my sweetheart and I are getting ready for a party it does bother me a tiny bit when we look like we didn’t belong together or we’re from different time periods, e.g. I am dressed all 20s-Great-Gatsby and he looks like Marlboro man, wearing his faded denim shirt and jeans. Of course I can’t change my look anymore because we wouldn’t make it to the party in time, so I ‘suggest’ little alterations to his outfit like maybe changing shirt or shoes. Thankfully that’s never too much of a problem and takes about 5 min. I would never ask him to match my fashion style though. That’s totally inappropriate and offensive. And I don’t like looking like the Beckhams anyway (unless we go to a Halloween party). But I do like to look like a couple. Like two people who have something in common. And I definitely do like a mother and a daughter in matching clothes. Actually, I think that’s adorable.
